How to get Claws in V Rising Oakveil Update

If you’re the type of vampire that wants to fight tooth and nail - literally - then the Claws are your jam. These feral weapons are all about pressure, speed, and brutality. In the Oakveil update, unlocking the Claws gives you a whole new way to shred enemies, chain combos, and trigger satisfying ruptures. But getting them isn’t as easy as crafting some boards and fangs in your dusty castle. Nope. You’ve got to go toe-to-claw with one of the meanest, frost-breathing beasts in all of Vardoran.

Land three puncture hits to trigger a devastating rupture explosion.

Where to find Claws

Alright, the first step is finding Frostmaw the Mountain Terror. And yeah, the name says it all. This guy doesn’t mess around. You’ll want to head to the Hallowed Mountains - bring warm boots, your best gear, and maybe a buddy or two if you’re on a PvE run. Frostmaw roams around like he owns the place, and honestly, he kinda does.

Track Frostmaw through the Hallowed Mountains and prepare for a brutal showdown.

When the fight starts, brace yourself for a literal blizzard. He’ll obscure the entire battlefield and dive at you with insane speed. We’re talking get-clawed-into-an-ice-block kind of fast. His icicle cone attacks will freeze you, his breath will melt your HP bar, and if you’re unlucky, you won’t see where he went until he’s gnawing on your spine. Beat him, and you’ll unlock the Claws blueprint, one of the wildest weapons in the game right now.

Time your leaps and stay mobile during Frostmaw’s blizzard phase.

After defeating the boss and unlocking the recipe, head to your Smithy crafting station, where you can craft the Claws using 12 Iron Ingots and 8 Planks.

Unlock the Claws blueprint and forge your path to mayhem.

If you're feeling spicy, upgrade them to Merciless Iron Claws with a Regular Ruby, Greater Blood Essence, and Reinforced Planks.

What makes Claws special

Once you’ve got the Claws, oh boy, prepare for a playstyle that’s fast, aggressive, and kind of reckless. The core of the Claws is their combo system. Every third strike applies a stack of Puncture, and when you land that third stack - boom - it triggers a Rupture.

Leap with Skewering E to surprise your target and bounce to safety.

That’s bonus damage to the main target and a small blast around them. It’s like an explosion of pain just for staying close. You also get two skills: Lunge and Skewering Leap. Lunge is a dashing cleave that applies Puncture and can set up a combo if timed right. Skewering Leap is your big moment: you leap in, slam them for 100% physical damage, apply a stack, and if you time it right, trigger that juicy rupture. But miss, and yeah… you get stuck in the ground and look like an idiot for a second. High risk, high reward.

Best builds for Claws

Now if you want to make the most of the Claws, you need to build around speed and sustain. Brute blood is a killer choice - it gives you leech and HP buffs, which means you’re healing while hitting. Add Warrior or Rogue blood if you want more cooldown reduction or crits. Gear-wise, aim for anything that gives you attack speed, cooldown reduction, or physical power. Veil of Blood is super good here. It lets you stay sticky on your target and gives you even more healing. If you're into flashy combos, Veil of Storm also slaps - it lets you stun mid-fight and do lightning-fast follow-ups. Elixir of the Beast is great too, especially if you're going full werewolf vampire berserker mode.

Activate Soul Burn to rip through defenses and lock your target in place.

Suggested spells and synergy

If you’re picking spells, go for Blood Right as your main defense - it blocks and heals, perfect for Claw rushdowns. For offense, Soul Burn is nasty. It rips off enemy defenses and adds a fading snare, so they basically can’t run. Lightning Curtain is also top tier for trapping someone from long range, then clawing into them like a bolt from hell. Want even more spice? Blood Rage gives bonus speed and can be enhanced to snare enemies too. It’s perfect for catching runners. And if you’re feeling extra devious, Power Surge amps your damage and keeps you moving like a blur.

Artifact variant Talons of the Lich Beast

If you’re lucky enough to get the artifact version, hold onto it. The Talons of the Lich Beast are disgusting - in the best way. Every Q or E has a chance to summon a skeleton that explodes in agony (literally). And when you consume Puncture with your abilities, you get healed for 25% of your spell power. That’s a ton of sustain. You become a claw-swinging, skeleton-summoning nightmare, and enemies won’t know what hit them.

Use Blood Rage to boost attack speed and chase down fleeing enemies.

You’ll want some backups. Claws are great, but they need help. Pistols and Slashers are perfect for getting those i-frames when you're under pressure. Sword is another awesome partner because its E gives you an anti-defensive counter. That way, if someone blocks your claw barrage, you just switch and punish hard. Spear (specifically Thousand Storms) also gives great gap closers without the danger of whiffing like with Skewering Leap. And don’t forget about longbows. They give you some ranged poke when enemies are playing keep-away and you’re waiting for a cooldown.

If you’re playing Claws, be ready to stay in your opponent’s face. This isn’t a chill-from-a-distance weapon - it’s claw and maul and pressure until they crumble. Start your combos by preloading a couple attacks, then dive with Q or E for that rupture detonation. Practice aiming your leaps and dancing around counters. And always have a veil or i-frame weapon on standby for emergencies. The more you play, the more you’ll learn when to commit and when to dip. They’re not easy, but if you master the Claws, you’ll feel like an apex predator in the arena. No joke.

The Claws in V Rising’s Oakveil update are a high-speed, high-skill weapon that rewards aggression, precision, and quick thinking. If you can tame the beast and manage your spacing, cooldowns, and combos, you’ll be one of the deadliest vampires out there. Just don’t whiff your E, alright?
