How to Get Chickens in Icarus Update
These feathered friends not only add charm to your base but also supply eggs that can be used in various recipes.

How to Unlock Chickens in the Workshop
To get chickens, you’ll need to unlock them in the Workshop. Here’s what you need: 500 Ren and 250 Purple Exotics to research. After you’ve researched them, you can craft chickens for 250 crafting cost per animal.

Once you’ve crafted your chickens, place them in your loadout. On the planet, use the Opal Exchange Interface to request a drop pod to deliver your chickens. Once retrieved, they’ll appear as Cryogenically Frozen Chickens in your inventory.

Deploying Chickens
To bring your chickens to life, right-click the frozen chicken in your inventory and select Deploy. A little box will appear—press F to interact, and you’ll release the chicken into the world. Claim ownership of your chicken, and it’s ready to level up and start producing eggs.

Feeding and Caring for Chickens
Chickens need food and water to thrive. Use the Rustic Chicken Coop to simplify their care. The coop is crafted at the Ranching Station and reduces food spoilage by 66%. Place feed in the coop or hand-feed the chickens using animal feed crafted from seeds and wheat.
Feed chickens with animal feed to keep them productive.
Water your chickens using the water trough, which can also be crafted at the Ranching Station. You’ll need to ensure they always have enough food and water to keep them happy and productive.
Collecting Eggs
After some time, chickens will begin laying eggs. The eggs are automatically collected in the coop. These eggs are used in various recipes, providing buffs like increased stamina or additional resource-finding chances. If you prefer, you can also collect eggs manually.

Using Chicken Skills
Yes, your chickens have skills! As they level up, you can assign skill points to traits like faster egg-laying, reduced food consumption, and increased health. These upgrades make your chickens more efficient and valuable over time.
Upgrade your chickens’ skills for better productivity.
Chickens are a fantastic addition to Icarus, offering a steady supply of eggs and a fun farming experience. Whether you’re crafting recipes or just enjoying the charm of your feathered companions, they’re worth the investment. So, gear up, bring some chickens to your base, and enjoy a fresh take on survival in Icarus.
