How to get Bee Grenade in Rust The Crafting Update
Rust just got a lot buzzier with the introduction of the Bee Grenade. This isn’t your typical explosive - it’s a glass jar filled with an angry swarm of bees, ready to be unleashed on your enemies. Instead of dealing direct damage, these relentless insects chase down anyone nearby, dealing with persistent stings that force even the most geared players to flee.

Bee grenade blueprint
Before you can start throwing bees at your enemies, you’ll need to unlock the Bee Grenade blueprint. This can be found in the Workbench Level 1 tech tree below the Beehive blueprint. Once learned, you can craft as many as you want - assuming you have the materials.

Crafting a Bee Grenade requires a few specific ingredients, so you must set up a beekeeping operation first. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 Beehive Nucleus
- 30 Cloth
- Workbench Level 1
- 10 seconds crafting time
The Beehive Nucleus is the hardest part to acquire since it only comes from extracting honeycombs or looting other players' beehives. If you’re lucky, you might find one in a decayed base, but most of the time, you’ll need to farm it yourself.

How to use the bee grenade
Using a Bee Grenade is as simple as shaking it up and throwing it. There are two ways to throw it:
- Left-click: Throws the grenade a long distance, perfect for hitting enemies from afar.
- Right-click: Drops the grenade at your feet, ideal for trapping enemies in enclosed spaces.

After being thrown, the grenade releases three bees immediately seeking out the nearest player or NPC. The bees deal minor but persistent damage over time and will continue to attack until the player gets rid of them.
Best ways to use
There are plenty of creative ways to use Bee Grenades in Rust. Here are some of the best tactics:
- Trapping enemies indoors: Throwing a Bee Grenade into an enclosed space fills it with angry bees, making it impossible for players to leave without getting swarmed.
- Raiding defense: If you’re getting door-camped, drop a grenade outside and force your enemies to flee or fight through the swarm.
- Flushing out snipers: Roof campers and tower defenders won’t be safe when bees buzz around their heads.
- Base protection: Keep a few grenades to toss at raiders breaking into your compound.

How to counter bee grenades
If you’re on the receiving end of a Bee Grenade, there are a few ways to get rid of the swarm before they sting you to death:
- Wear a Hazmat Suit: Completely negates bee stings, making you immune to the grenade’s effects.
- Use fire: Holding a torch, standing near a campfire, or using a flamethrower scares the bees away.

- Use a Smoke Grenade: This instantly disperses all nearby bees, making it the best counter.

- Jump into the water: Bees can’t follow you into the water, so take a swim to escape the swarm.
While the Bee Grenade is a useful combat tool, it’s also one of the funniest weapons in Rust. Watching an enemy panic and run as they get swarmed is pure entertainment.
The Bee Grenade is a wild new addition to Rust’s arsenal, bringing unique gameplay mechanics and endless opportunities for chaos. Just make sure you don’t accidentally throw one at yourself.
