How to Find Dive Sites in Rust Update 2.0
In Rust Update 2.0, finding dive sites has become much more straightforward. The old floating bottle markers have been replaced with clear, solid buoys that make locating dive spots in the ocean far easier. These buoys stand out, so as you explore, you’ll spot them quickly. The dive sites themselves have undergone significant changes, offering a fresh look and new opportunities for treasure hunters. So, grab your gear, because there’s a whole new underwater world waiting.

The dive sites have been revamped with three new types of locations, each containing six loot crates. These spots now offer a diverse environment, from sunken ships to underwater rock formations, and each site has its own unique visuals and atmosphere. The loot has been standardized, meaning no matter which dive site you visit, you can expect a consistent number of crates, which is great for planning your underwater adventures.

Speaking of underwater environments, the flora and fauna have also received updates. The foliage below the waves now looks more realistic, adding to the immersive feel of exploring the ocean depths. Fish now behave more naturally, swimming in ways that make the world feel alive. You might even come across some other critters as you explore, adding a new layer of excitement to each dive.
Getting Started with Your Gear
Before heading out to a dive site, make sure you’re equipped properly. At the very least, you’ll need a diving tank to ensure you can stay underwater long enough to gather your loot. But if you want a smoother experience, it’s a good idea to also pick up a wetsuit, diving fins, and a diving mask. These items can be found through looting or purchased at the Fishing Village.

The full set will cost you around 95 scrap, but it’s worth the investment, especially if you plan to dive regularly. Once you have your gear, you're set to hit the water and begin your search for the new dive sites.
Also, you can craft the Diver Propulsion Vehicle to reach the buoys. Don’t forget to fuel up your device.

Dive Site Variations and Loot
There are three main types of dive sites, each offering different challenges and rewards. The sunken small ship, the overturned small ship, and the large shipwreck are your primary targets. Smaller ships tend to spawn between one and four sunken crates or chests, which you’ll need to untie before the loot floats to the surface. Larger shipwrecks can hold up to seven crates, making them more rewarding. However, you won’t know which type of shipwreck you’ve encountered until you dive down and see for yourself.

Once you’ve untied the crates, they’ll float up, making them easy to grab. But remember, other players might spot the crates too and head over to claim them, so be quick! Looting a small shipwreck will take you about 70 seconds, while a larger one will take around 90 seconds. Underwater rock formations are also scattered around, and these will take about 60 seconds to loot. With one full diving tank, you should be able to loot several sites before needing to resurface.

Sharks and Other Dangers
One of the most exciting additions to the update is the introduction of sharks. These ocean predators now patrol the waters around sunken ships, adding a new level of danger to your underwater expeditions. Sharks have around 148 health and deal a hefty 47 damage to an unprotected body, so it’s smart to keep your distance and take them out from afar. Using a speargun is a solid option, allowing you to stay at a safe distance while dealing damage. If you prefer melee combat, be aware that melee weapon damage is halved against sharks, so you’ll need to hit them more times than expected.

Once you’ve taken down a shark, it can be harvested for resources like low-grade fuel, cloth, raw fish, leather, and bones. The tools you use will determine the amount of resources you collect, and these materials are useful for various crafting purposes. Plus, killing a shark is part of one of the Fishing Village missions, which rewards you with useful items like a jackhammer, meds, and scrap.
Finding and exploring dive sites in Rust Update 2.0 offers an exciting blend of treasure hunting and danger. With clearer markers, revamped underwater environments, and the addition of sharks, there's plenty to keep players engaged. Whether you're after loot or looking for the thrill of underwater exploration, the update delivers a rich experience. Just make sure you’re well-equipped, stay alert for other players, and be ready to face the sharks lurking in the depths.
