Unlocking Uranium

 

     Uranium becomes available once you hit Tier 8—Nuclear Power. This tier unlocks your scanner to detect Uranium nodes. To start your Uranium quest, make sure you’ve got this tier unlocked by progressing through your technology tree.

 

    

 

Finding Uranium Nodes

 

     There are four known Uranium nodes scattered across the world, each with its unique challenges and hazards. Let’s break down where you can find them and what to expect:

 

     1. Grass Fields Cave Node: This node is hidden in a long tunnel that connects the Grass Fields to the Eastern Dune Forest. Inside, you’ll find a large cavern guarded by a variety of Stingers, including an Elite Stinger. It’s a bit of a trek through the cave system, so be prepared for a fight!

 

    

     2. Swamp Cave Node: Head to the Swamp and locate the cave behind a massive waterfall. Beware of Flying Crab Hatchers at the entrance. Inside, Stingers, including an Elite Stinger, will challenge you. This node is rich but protected, so come armed and ready.

 

     3. Red Jungle Node: Located in a depression in the Red Plateau’s center, this node is heavily guarded by Large Stingers and Alpha Spitters. The area is teeming with hostile creatures, so strategize your approach to avoid getting overwhelmed.

 

     4. Rocky Desert Node: Perched on the tallest peak of the Rocky Desert, this node is the only impure Uranium source. It’s relatively unguarded, aside from a lone Flying Crab Hatcher, but you’ll need to climb to reach it. This node is a bit of a climb but well worth the effort.

 

    

 

Mining Uranium

 

     To harvest Uranium, you’ll need a Miner. Here’s the lowdown on mining rates:

 

     - Miner Mk.1: Impure nodes yield 30/min, Normal nodes yield 60/min, and Pure nodes yield 120/min.

     - Miner Mk.2: Boosts output to 60/min (Impure), 120/min (Normal), and 240/min (Pure).

     - Miner Mk.3: The beast mode, offering 120/min (Impure), 240/min (Normal), and a whopping 480/min (Pure) at 100% clock speed.

 

    

     Keep in mind that it takes around 14.85 MJ to extract one Uranium unit, so make sure your power setup is ready for the demand!

 

 

Handling Radiation

 

     Uranium is notoriously radioactive. Even with a Hazmat Suit, proximity to Uranium nodes can cause radiation sickness. Here’s how to stay safe:

 

     - Equip a Hazmat Suit: This will protect you from radiation damage.

     - Use Iodine Infused Filters: These are crucial for prolonged exposure.

     - Keep a Safe Distance: Build your mining operations far from your main base to avoid contamination.

 

    

 

Processing Uranium

 

     Once you’ve mined Uranium, you’ll need to process it to make Encased Uranium Cells and Uranium Fuel Rods. Here’s a quick rundown of the recipes:

 

     - Encased Uranium Cell: Requires 10 Uranium, 3 Concrete, and takes 12 seconds in the Blender.

     - Infused Uranium Cell: Combines 5 Uranium, 3 Silica, and Encased Uranium Cells in the Manufacturer.

 

    

     Remember, Uranium Waste is a byproduct of this process and needs to be managed carefully to avoid contamination.
