How to find and explore Jungle Ruins and Ziggurat in Rust Jungle Update
The jungle is thick, wild, and full of mystery, and with the new Rust Jungle Update, it’s also packed with hidden loot and dangerous climbs. From the sprawling base of the Jungle Ziggurat to the high tree platforms of the ruins, players now have more verticality, parkour, and puzzle elements than ever before. If you're wondering how to loot effectively, where to climb, and how not to get ambushed while doing it, you’re in the right place.

Where to find Jungle Ruins and Ziggurat
The Jungle biome now appears as a deep green region on the world map. It tends to spawn near coasts and wraps around rivers, with dense tree coverage, hidden pathways, and frequent road intersections. Jungle Ruins tend to appear unmarked, or with faint stone or castle icons, often connecting to dirt roads or offshoots.

The Ziggurat, however, stands tall and unmistakable - a multi-tiered stone monument resembling a Mesoamerican temple. Head toward map grids with dense vegetation, especially near mid-map clusters, and look for signs of geometric structures among the brush.

How to approach the Jungle Ziggurat safely
Ziggurat has multiple entrances - front stairs, scaffolding ladders, pipe climbs, and side ramps. But it also has multiple danger zones, especially at the recycler level where campers love to wait. The best route is usually top-down. Approach from the vine trees if nearby, swing to a rooftop edge, and descend from above. This not only gives you line-of-sight over other players, but also helps you snag the upper crates first, usually the best in the monument. Use cover along the walls, watch for flankers from pipe entrances, and check the recycler area last, since it’s a loot trap hotspot.

Inside the Ziggurat, it’s one big room, with two watery pools taking up most of the floor. Use rope ladders to access the roof and then drop in. You’ll find crates on platforms, against walls, and sometimes near the recycler zone. There’s also a central access ladder leading straight from the top into the water room. Move fast, check every angle, and keep your ears open - the echo in here makes it hard to tell where steps are coming from.
Exploring Jungle Ruins and their loot
Jungle Ruins are scattered mini-monuments across the biome. They vary in shape, but usually include at least two normal or military crate spawns, some barrels, and a few awkward jumps. Some ruins require ziplines, rope climbs, or wall jumps to reach crates hidden at the top. Look for planks, sticking logs, and ropes - they’re often not just decoration. These are perfect for early-game loot, and there’s usually no radiation or NPCs. Just don’t underestimate other players - everyone’s hungry for a gun or meds.
The new green jungle crates are exclusive to this biome. They often include blowpipe darts, anti-radiation meds, cloth, and even jungle-specific tools like ropes or basic armor pieces. Blow darts come in four types, including radiation and incapacitation. These are solid early-game tools and make the ruins and Ziggurat worth looting even if you’re not kitted out.

Combining vine trees with ruins and monument exploration
Vine trees in the jungle aren’t just pretty. They’re essential. You can climb them, swing to others, and use them as launch pads to nearby rooftops or monument levels. Many ruins are surrounded by these trees, so you can use vines to approach silently and loot from above. Just make sure you don’t swing into enemy fire. From tree to monument, there’s a full jungle traversal system that smart players use to avoid animals and players alike.

Other players are the biggest threat, but the jungle isn’t just PVP. Panthers stalk silently, snakes bite from the underbrush, and crocs ambush from rivers. But you can also use that to your advantage - lead someone into a croc-infested river and let nature do the work. When approaching the Ziggurat, always circle and scan. Use thermal scopes at night or bring a buddy to watch your back while you loot.
When and how to loot ruins without dying
Timing is everything. Most players loot ruins mid-day when visibility is best. That’s exactly why you should go during the night or early morning. Use the shadows. Crouch. Sprint in, grab crates, and dip. If you’re planning a serious Ziggurat run, clear your inventory and bring only what you need - meds, water, and maybe one ranged weapon. Everything else you’ll hopefully find on-site.
Jungle loot lets you skip the early wood-stone grind. Between crates and barrels, you’ll gather cloth, rope, meds, even tools and weapons. Use that to drop down a quick 2x1 or cave base, ideally near a vine tree or shallow river. That gives you mobility and water, plus a quick escape route. Combine jungle crates with quick crafting to build, defend, and return to looting in one seamless loop.
Exploring the Jungle Ruins and the mighty Ziggurat is a core part of mastering Rust's latest update. The key is using verticality, stealth, and smart timing to your advantage. Stay sharp, loot fast, and let the jungle become your playground.
