How to defeat Megara the Serpent Queen in V Rising Oakveil Update

In Oakveil Woodlands you’ve heard the whispers and felt the chill in the air when you approach Venom Blades Bastion deep in the new zone. You’re here for Megara the Serpent Queen, and if you’ve come this far you’re ready to test your build and your skills against her ritual-chamber arena.

Gear up with the highest poison resistance you can find before entering Venom Blades Bastion.

She commands poison-tipped tentacles, summons venom pools and slithers across the battlefield with uncanny speed. Gear up with high-resist armor, stack health potions and summon your skeleton minions if you have them because this fight will demand split-second dodges and relentless pressure.

Hug the left wall on approach to avoid Megara’s opening acid globe barrage.

Preparation

Before you load into the Bastion make sure your weapon deal type counters poison-based enemies - chaos or sacred work well - and buff your resistances. Apply a spider venom potion for extra resistance to her essays of poison, and equip a shield or ward that can soak a couple of hits when you’re forced to trade blows. Bring mobility skills like mist trance or a quick dash to slip out of her whipping tentacles.

Block one tentacle swipe then roll through the second arc to punish her in phase one.

You’ll find Megara atop the stone dais in the chamber heavy with summoning glyphs. As you enter the vaulted hall, hug the left wall to avoid her opening volley of acid orbs and sweeping tentacle arcs.

Sprint in an S-pattern between ground-poison pools to avoid taking constant damage.

Drop into the arena from ground level rather than leaping from above to minimize fall damage, then circle her slowly until she commits to an attack pattern you can punish.

Phase one tactics

In the first phase she alternates between sweeping tentacle slashes and shooting venom globules. Time your blocks to absorb one tentacle strike, then roll through her second arc to close the gap.

Watch for the serpent-skull outline to dodge the massive venom spear slam.

Counterattack with a heavy hit or two when her tentacles retract, then back off before she fires her next globule salvo. If she summons two ground-poison pools, sprint between them in an S-pattern rather than straight through.

Phase two tactics

At around 50 percent health she roars and summons three serpentine tentacles that lash out in quick succession, marking the floor with glowing venom traps.

In phase two, dodge through the center of each summoned tentacle strike to interrupt her.

Dodge through the center of each tentacle strike to avoid the worst damage and slice into the tentacle roots to break the cast early, then immediately reposition behind her to avoid the follow-up AoE wave. Maintain constant movement so you’re never at the center of her dark-magic circle.

Reposition behind her immediately after the spear slam for your heaviest counterattack.

Finishing blow

Once her health dips below 20 percent she channels a gigantic venom spear that skews across half the arena.

Keep moving in circles during acidic mist to avoid getting trapped in the center.

Watch for the serpent-skull outline on the ground, sprint to the opposite side, and then unload your strongest buffs and potions.

Break the tentacle roots early to stop her AoE wave in its tracks.

Land your heaviest hits as soon as she staggers from the spear slam, then dodge sideways while she lets loose a final arc of acidic mist. As the last swirl dissipates, hammer in your critical strike and watch the Serpent Queen fall.

You’ve weathered the poison-laced fury of Megara the Serpent Queen and emerged victorious. Your timing, dodges and smart use of resistances carried you through her ritual hall of death. Now claim the Soul Shard of the Serpent and equip your new Pedestal of the Serpent to honor your triumph and prepare for Dracula himself.
