How to Cut Trees in Farming Simulator 25
Cutting down trees in Farming Simulator 25 is an essential part of forestry, whether you’re clearing land for crops or making a steady profit. From using the right tools to learning how to handle and stack logs efficiently, here’s everything you need to know to get started with tree harvesting.

Tools for Tree Cutting
Before jumping into the woods, you’ll need the right equipment to make the job fast and efficient.
1. A harvester, like the Komatsu 931XC, is ideal for cutting down conifers (spruces and pines). This machine makes quick work of tall, straight trees and cuts them into sections for easy handling.

2. Chainsaw: For trees like stone pines and cypresses, or if you’re dealing with smaller, uneven trees, a chainsaw is your go-to tool. You can find chainsaws in various brands, so pick one you like!

Step 1: Using a Tree Harvester for Conifers
For tall conifer trees like spruces and pines, hop in your harvesting machine. Choose the log length you want for transport—common choices are 5-8 meters, depending on the trailer size. Then, drive up to a tree, position the header near the base, and activate the machine.
To operate the machine, hold the left mouse button and move the mouse. It’s not easy the first time, but you’ll get the hang of it with practice.

Press X to cut the tree, held securely by the harvester’s grip.

Once the tree is cut, adjust the length of each log section, letting the harvester automatically cut and stack each piece. Press X to cut the tree again while it's held by your Harvester.

Another machine you can use is the 843L-II Harvester. Its main advantages are its price and versatility. While other machines can only grab and cut straight trees, they struggle with multi-branch trees. In these cases, the John Deere 843L-II is your go-to helper. It’s also much easier to use than the Hannibal T50 or Komatsu. However, you won’t be able to manage cut length with it.

Step 2: Using a Chainsaw for Stone Pines and Cypresses
If you’re dealing with stone pines or cypresses, grab your chainsaw and position yourself in front of the tree. Rotate the saw until a green ring appears around the trunk—this indicates you’re ready to cut. Make sure you aim the saw in the direction you want the tree to fall. Hold the Right Mouse Button and move the mouse sideways to adjust the cutting angle.

Once it’s down, carefully trim off branches by moving your saw along the trunk.

Step 3: Stacking and Organizing Logs for Transport
As you cut, try to keep logs in neat piles to simplify loading later. This will help you manage the workflow and save time when it’s time to transport the logs to a selling point.
Tips for Tree Harvesting Success
1. Plan Your Approach: Cutting trees in rows and stacking logs systematically will make the process more efficient and less chaotic.
2. Watch Your Tree Type: Not all trees can be processed with a harvester. Only use a harvester for conifers, as it can’t handle broadleaf species like oaks or maples.
3. Practice Machine Control: Mastering the harvester controls is essential to quickly position, cut, and stack trees. Take time to practice maneuvering the arm and rotating the cutter head for precision.

Mastering tree cutting in Farming Simulator 25 opens up new profit opportunities and gives you the skills to clear and organize your land. Whether you’re cutting down spruces with a harvester or tackling smaller trees with a chainsaw, knowing the right techniques and tools will save you time and make your forestry operation smooth. Now get out there, grab your equipment, and start transforming your farm!
