How to Connect Portals in Valheim
If there's one thing you'll be doing a lot in Valheim, it's traveling. The vast, procedurallygenerated world demands exploration, but trekking on foot can be exhausting. That's where portals come in handy. These magical gateways allow you to zip between two points of interest with ease, cutting down travel time and making your adventures more efficient.

Building a Portal
To construct a portal, you'll need a workbench nearby. Equip your hammer, access the crafting menu, and locate portals in the 'miscellaneous' items section.

You'll need:
20 fine wood (use bronze axe on birch)
2 surtling cores (found in burial chambers in the Black Forest)
10 graydwarf eyes (drop from Greydwarfs in the Black Forest)

How to Use a Portal
Place one portal near your home and assign it a Tag that will serve as a benchmark for connecting to other portals.

Place another Portal at your desired destination. Ensure both portals have the same tag for linking. Remember, portal tags are casesensitive.

Pro tip: Utilize only one portal at home, changing its tag each time you use it to match the destination portal.

What Can't You Take with You?
Certain metals cannot be transported through portals, including black metal scrap, silver ore and silver, iron ore and iron, bronze, copper ore and copper, and tin and tin ore. This limitation prevents easy exploitation of the game's economy and crafting balance.

Despite the restrictions, portals are invaluable tools for traversing Valheim's vast landscapes. With your portals set up, surviving purgatory becomes a little less daunting, and your adventures more exhilarating.
