How to Beat the Fuling Berserker in Valheim (Attacks, Stagger and Drop Rates)

The Fuling Berserker has 800 health at base, and that exactly triples to 2,400 at two stars (800 × 3 = 2,400). It is the biggest melee threat guarding a Fuling Village or Stonehenge, and both of its attacks deal identical damage per hit, so there is no "safe" swing to eat. Knowing its stagger threshold and attack timing turns this fight from a coin flip into a formality.
On sourcing. Iron Gate do not publish creature stat blocks. The figures below come from the Valheim Fandom wiki's page on the Fuling Berserker and can change with any patch.
Fuling Berserker at a Glance
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Location | Plains — Fuling Villages and Stonehenges |
| Internal ID | GoblinBrute |
| Health (0★ / 1★ / 2★) | 800 / 1,600 / 2,400 |
| Immune to | Spirit |
| Weak to / Resistant to | None listed |
| Stagger threshold | 30% |
| Drops | Black metal scrap, Coins, Fuling totem, Fuling berserker trophy |
The wiki's own creature template leaves "weak to" and "resistant to" blank for this enemy — the only listed interaction is Spirit immunity. That's what the source documents (or rather doesn't), not a guess.
The Two Attacks

The Berserker has two moves, described precisely by the wiki:
- Attack: "Swings their club in a 4-meter 70-degree arc in front of themselves," usable "within 3 meters of the player every 2 seconds." It has two variations — regular and delayed — and per the wiki's footnote, "the timing difference between the regular swing and the delayed swing is approximately 0.297 seconds."
- Rage attack: "Slams their club into the ground 3 times extending out 4 meters and arcing 60 degrees vertically, stepping forward with each swing," triggering "every 20 seconds when within 6 meters of a player."
Both hit for the same numbers per star: 130 Blunt, 100 Chop, 40 Pickaxe at base. 1-star scales that ×1.5 (130 × 1.5 = 195, 100 × 1.5 = 150, 40 × 1.5 = 60), and 2-star doubles the base (130 × 2 = 260, 100 × 2 = 200, 40 × 2 = 80).
Since both moves share one damage table, there's nothing to "bait" for a cheaper hit — every connection costs the same.
Health, Drops and the Stagger Number

| Star | Health | Black metal scrap | Coins | Stagger damage (30% of health) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0★ | 800 | 3–4 | 5–19 | 800 × 0.3 = 240 |
| 1★ | 1,600 | 6–8 | 10–38 | 1,600 × 0.3 = 480 |
| 2★ | 2,400 | 12–16 | 20–76 | 2,400 × 0.3 = 720 |
Drop ranges exactly double per star tier — scrap runs 3–4 → 6–8 → 12–16, so a 2-star drops four times the base amount (3 × 4 = 12, 4 × 4 = 16); Coins follow the same pattern (5–19 → 10–38 → 20–76). The Fuling totem (10%) and the trophy (5%) don't scale with star at all — those chances stay flat, so hunting higher stars only pays off for scrap and coins.
Stagger is the real fight-shortener. At base, 240 damage staggers a Berserker, and with nothing specifically resisted, that number is reachable with any decent Black metal weapon — a staggered Berserker eats a free hit.
Where Berserkers Spawn

- Fuling Village: an "uncommon" spawn point, per the wiki's spawn table.
- Stonehenge: up to 3 spawn points per site.
- "The horde is attacking!" event: limit 2, stars marked "No" — these Berserkers are always base level.
- "They were bros, man." event: also limit 2, but stars are "Yes (Minimum 1 Star)" — every Berserker here is at least 1-star, a harder encounter than a routine raid.
The spawn table also lists a "frequency" value of 6 for both events — its unit isn't defined on the source page, so treat it as internal weighting, not a real spawn rate.
You can read the star tier from a distance. Per the wiki's notes, Berserker "skin tones... mostly match their non-berserker counterparts" — base is green, 1-star lighter yellow-green, 2-star reddish-tan. The notes add that "although Fuling berserkers always carry the same weapon, their appearances do vary" — some wear an eye-obscuring headpiece, others four bones on their back — but that variation is cosmetic, not tied to star level.
Practical tips
- Stagger math: 30% of health is 240 / 480 / 720 at 0★, 1★, 2★ — the number to hit for a free swing.
- Both attacks deal identical damage per hit (130/100/40 at base) — nothing cheaper to bait.
- The rage attack only triggers within 6 meters, every 20 seconds — back off past that to reset its timer.
- Skin tone reveals star level: green (0★), yellow-green (1★), reddish-tan (2★).
- "They were bros, man." Berserkers are always 1-star or higher — expect a tougher fight.
- Scrap and Coin drops double per star, but totem (10%) and trophy (5%) chances don't — farm higher stars for materials, not a better totem shot.
Running your own Valheim server
A Fuling Berserker fight rarely stays solo once a village aggroes as a group, and coordinating a raid is easier on a world that stays up between sessions. A gamever Valheim server keeps that world persistent for up to 10 players, with one-click backups and automatic updates.
Conclusion
The Fuling Berserker carries 800 health at base, tripling to 2,400 at two stars (800 × 3 = 2,400), and both attacks — a 4-meter, 70-degree arc swing every 2 seconds and a three-slam rage attack every 20 seconds within 6 meters — deal identical damage: 130 Blunt, 100 Chop, 40 Pickaxe at base, scaling to 195/150/60 at 1-star (×1.5) and 260/200/80 at 2-star (×2). Its 30% stagger threshold works out to 240 / 480 / 720 damage across the three levels — the fastest lever in the fight. Black metal scrap and Coins double per star tier, but the Fuling totem (10%) and trophy (5%) stay flat. Berserkers spawn as an uncommon village encounter, up to 3 per Stonehenge, and during two named events — one always base-level, and "They were bros, man," which guarantees 1-star minimum. Skin tone gives away the star before you're in range to find out the hard way.
