How to Beat Marcus & Faleris in Palworld (Tower of the PIDF)

Marcus & Faleris is the fourth tower boss and the last one before Palworld's real difficulty spike. Faleris is Fire, which means Water is your answer — and the tower sits in the Desiccated Desert, so the environment is working against you before the fight even starts. Clear this cleanly and you are ready for the Level 50 tower; struggle here and you should upgrade first.

Bring Water Damage

Fire is weak to Water, roughly doubling your damage — and on a timed tower fight that is clock as much as damage.
Water counters from Palworld 1.0's roster:
- Panthalus — Water, and the toughest Pal in the update at up to 10,260 HP and 1,610 Defense. If the problem is surviving long enough rather than dealing damage, this is the answer.
- Shaolong — Dragon/Water, 910 – 1,153 Attack, joint-highest in the update, with Meteorain (700) and Celestial Vortex (700). It is also a flying mount.
- Ophydia — Grass/Water, 790 – 997 Attack, and its partner skill makes your own attacks inflict Soak 2.
- Skutlass — the accessible option, on the coast at Level 30 – 34.
- Solmora — Water, rideable across water, and it makes talented Pals easier to fish up.
Avoid Grass and Ice Pals. Fire beats both.
One combo worth knowing: Ophydia applies Soak, and Elgrove Cryst freezes any Soaked enemy in a single strike. Freeze is control rather than chip damage — a frozen boss stops attacking you, which on a timed fight is free damage uptime.
Prepare for the Desert

The Tower of the PIDF sits in the Desiccated Desert. Like Mount Obsidian at the previous tower, the heat is a continuous drain that stacks on top of everything Faleris does.
Bring heat resistance:
- Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor (Technology Level 75) — Heat Resistance Lv. 3, Fire Damage Reduction Lv. 1, 840 – 1,092 Defense. If you are back-filling towers late, this is the ideal kit for a Fire boss in a desert.
- Reptyro Charm — temperature resistance plus Fire Damage Reduction Lv. 4.
- Ring of Fire Resistance — Damage Reduction Lv. 3 against the boss's element specifically.
At Level 40 you will not have the ancient tier yet. Any heat-resistant set you can craft, plus a Fire resistance ring, is enough.
How to Actually Win

- Bring Water damage. Skutlass at Level 30 – 34 is the realistic option at level; Panthalus or Shaolong if you are back-filling.
- Wear heat resistance. The desert will out-damage the boss otherwise.
- Run the Soak → Freeze chain if you have both Ophydia and Elgrove Cryst. A frozen boss is not attacking you.
- Take the Advanced Shield if you can reach it. At Technology Level 60 it gives 1,800 self-repairing shield HP — effectively a second health bar. It is above this tower's level, but if you are struggling, it is the single biggest survivability upgrade available.
- Watch the timer. Tower fights are timed and 1.0 made them faster.
Practical tips
- Water beats Fire. Leave Grass and Ice Pals at home.
- Skutlass (Level 30 – 34, coastal) is the Water Pal you can realistically own at this stage.
- Heat resistance is mandatory in the Desiccated Desert.
- Ophydia + Elgrove Cryst chains Soak into an instant Freeze — control beats chip damage on a timed fight.
- This is the last tower before the Level 50 difficulty spike. If this one is close, upgrade before attempting Victor & Shadowbeak.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
A timed fight in a hostile biome goes far better with a group, and a group needs a world that is there when everyone is. A dedicated Palworld 1.0 server keeps progression persistent so nobody waits for a host, supports full crossplay so platform never blocks a friend from joining, and handles one-click backups and automatic updates so a failed attempt costs nothing.
Conclusion
Marcus & Faleris is Palworld's fourth tower boss — Level 40, Fire, weak to Water, at coordinates 556, 336 in the Desiccated Desert. Bring Water damage (Skutlass at level, Panthalus or Shaolong if back-filling), leave Grass and Ice Pals behind, and wear heat resistance because the desert drains you continuously. If you have Ophydia and Elgrove Cryst, chain Soak into an instant Freeze to stop the boss attacking entirely. Clear this comfortably and you are ready for the Level 50 spike at Victor & Shadowbeak.
