Heartstrings in Dragonwilds: Seven Memorial Stones, and Make Room Before the Last One

Heartstrings is a walking quest with a genuinely nasty failure condition. You follow seven memorial stones eastward across the Fractured Plains, singing at each, and the last one hands you a Crystal bow and its recipe. But the wiki carries a footnote most players never see: the quest will not complete unless you have inventory space to receive the bow. Arrive full and the walk was for nothing.
Quest Details

| Field | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | Secondary |
| Start | Interact with the memorial stone at the top of the hill in the Fractured Plains |
| Requires | Getting Started |
| Recommended | Good armour and weapons, antipoison potions, air runes for Windstep |
| Enemies | Multiple garou |
| Rewards | Crystal bow, plus the recipe for it |
The recipe is the durable half. A Crystal bow is a bow; a Crystal bow recipe means you can make more, which matters if you lose one or want to equip a group.
Finding the First Stone
The opening location is precise and worth reading twice:
A glowing blue memorial stone found next to a unique, large tree with blue leaves in the Fractured Plains. The tree is on top of where the first Fractured Plains dungeon is located. You can get to the top by casting Windstep a few times up the rocks to the right of the cave where you access that dungeon.
Three landmarks stack here: the blue-leaved tree, the memorial stone beside it, and the dungeon entrance directly below. If you have already found that dungeon, you are standing under the quest start.
Windstep is the access, which is why air runes appear in the recommendations. Cast it a few times up the rocks to the right of the cave mouth.
Interacting with the first stone gives you a crystal seed, which lands in your quest inventory rather than your normal bags — the same behaviour as the ghostspeak amulet in Restless Ghosts, and the same source of confusion.
Seven Stones, All Eastward

There are a total of 7 memorial stones to be found, all in an eastward direction from the first.
That is the whole navigation. Every progression point sits next to a unique tree with a memorial stone beside it, and you travel east from each to reach the next. There is no branching and no backtracking.
The route is through open Fractured Plains, which is why the quest recommends combat gear: expect wolves and garou along the way. Both are worth knowing before you set out:
- Dire Wolves have 780 health at power level 3 and are weak to Fire.
- Garou come in five types with four different weaknesses — Hunter to Air, Berserker to Ranged, Druid to Fire, Thane and King to Crush — so no single weapon covers the walk.
- The Garou Druid is why antipoison is on the list. Its poisoned magic dart deals physical and poison damage, and it is immune to Poison itself.
Drink antipoison before you engage, not after. Resistance in Dragonwilds is applied when the effect is created and ignored on every tick afterwards.
Make Room Before the Last Stone

The footnote on the reward line is the most important sentence in this quest:
The quest will not complete unless the player has inventory space to receive the Crystal Bow.
That is a silent failure. You reach the seventh tree, sing the song, and nothing happens — with no message explaining why. Players routinely conclude the quest is bugged.
Clear a slot before the final stone. Since the walk east takes you through wolf and garou territory, you will likely have picked up drops along the route, which is exactly how a bag that started empty ends up full at the worst moment.
Drop or bank something at the sixth tree if you are unsure. A slot costs nothing; repeating a seven-stone walk costs an evening.
Running your own Dragonwilds server
A seven-stage walk across contested ground is the kind of trip a second player halves, and that needs one shared world. A gamever Dragonwilds server keeps Ashenfall persistent with automatic updates and one-click backups.
Conclusion
Heartstrings starts at a glowing blue memorial stone beside a unique blue-leaved tree in the Fractured Plains, sitting directly on top of the first Fractured Plains dungeon and reached by casting Windstep up the rocks to the right of the cave mouth. Interacting gives you a crystal seed in your quest inventory rather than your normal bags. From there the route is simple: seven memorial stones, all eastward from the first, each beside its own unique tree, with no branching. The walk crosses open ground held by wolves and garou — the Dire Wolf at 780 health is weak to Fire, the five Garou types have four different weaknesses between them, and the Garou Druid's poisoned dart is why antipoison is recommended and why it should be drunk before you engage. The reward is a Crystal bow and its recipe, and the footnote that decides whether you get them: the quest will not complete unless you have inventory space free. Clear a slot before the final stone.
