Ground Mounts in Palworld: 75 of Them, and Only 8 Are Ever an Upgrade

Palworld has seventy-five rideable ground mounts. Walk the whole list in technology order, keeping only the ones that beat everything before them, and the path is eight Pals long — and one of its steps is a thirty-two technology level plateau where nothing you unlock is any faster than what you already have.
The Fastest Ground Mounts

| Mount | Sprint | Run | Tech | Stamina | Jump |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Necromus | 1900 | 1300 | 61 | 350 | 900 |
| Hartalis | 1900 | 900 | 70 | 400 | 1500 |
| Paladius | 1800 | 800 | 61 | 400 | 1000 |
| Ophydia | 1500 | 700 | 72 | 100 | 550 |
| Pyrin | 1300 | 850 | 29 | 100 | 1500 |
| Pyrin Noct | 1300 | 850 | 34 | 100 | 1500 |
| Azurmane | 1260 | 900 | 58 | 220 | 1500 |
| Gildane | 1260 | 840 | 54 | 200 | 1300 |
| Starryon | 1250 | 900 | 57 | 230 | 1500 |
Necromus and Hartalis tie at 1,900 sprint, and everything else is decided by the columns beside it. Necromus has the higher run speed at 1,300 — that is your speed when you are not sprinting, which is most of the time on rough terrain. Hartalis has more stamina (400) and a far better jump (1,500), which makes it the better traversal mount even though the headline number is identical.
Paladius at 1,800 is effectively the same tier, arriving at the same Technology 61 as Necromus with the same 400 stamina.
Ophydia is the trap on this list. At 1,500 sprint it looks like a strong Technology 72 unlock — but it carries only 100 stamina, the same as a starting mount. It sprints fast and stops quickly.
Sprint Speed Is Not the Whole Story

Ride sprint speed is how fast you go. Stamina is how long you go for. Multiply them mentally and the ranking changes:
| Mount | Sprint × Stamina |
|---|---|
| Hartalis | 1900 × 400 |
| Paladius | 1800 × 400 |
| Necromus | 1900 × 350 |
| Blazehowl | 1200 × 150 |
| Pyrin | 1300 × 100 |
| Ophydia | 1500 × 100 |
Pyrin is the classic burst mount. At Technology 29 it hits 1,300 sprint — a number nothing else reaches for another thirty-two technology levels — but on 100 stamina it is a sprinter, not a tourer. You use it to cross the next valley, not the next region.
Hartalis is the touring mount, and by a distance: top-equal sprint, the joint-highest stamina in the list, and a 1,500 jump that lets it climb terrain other mounts have to go around.
Jump height is the underrated column. Kingpaca and Kingpaca Cryst top the whole list at 1,750, well above Necromus's 900 — so if your problem is vertical rather than horizontal, the fastest mount is the wrong tool.
The Upgrade Path Is Eight Pals

Read the seventy-five mounts in technology order and keep only the ones that are faster than everything unlocked before them. The whole progression is this:
| Tech | Mount | Sprint |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | Rushoar | 800 |
| 7 | Melpaca | 900 |
| 9 | Direhowl | 1050 |
| 14 | Univolt | 1100 |
| 28 | Dazemu | 1200 |
| 29 | Pyrin | 1300 |
| 61 | Paladius | 1800 |
| 61 | Necromus | 1900 |
Eight mounts out of seventy-five. Everything else in the list is a sidegrade, a themed variant, or slower than something you already had.
And look at the gap. Pyrin arrives at Technology 29 and nothing beats it until Technology 61 — thirty-two levels during which every new rideable Pal you unlock is, in pure speed terms, a downgrade. If a mid-game mount feels disappointing, this is why. It is not you; the ladder genuinely stops.
That plateau is where the other columns start to matter. Between 29 and 61 the useful unlocks are not faster, they are tougher or more specialised: Blazehowl at Tech 33 brings 150 stamina against Pyrin's 100, Xenogard at Tech 41 brings 250, Braloha at Tech 36 brings 270. If you want to cross a region rather than dash across a field, those are the upgrades hiding inside the plateau.
Dazemu is the odd entry worth noting. At Technology 28 it has a gravity scale of 0.85 — by far the lowest on the ground list, where most mounts sit between 2 and 3. That makes it unusually floaty over drops, a genuinely different feel rather than a stat bump.
Practical tips
- 75 ground mounts, but the speed upgrade path is only 8 Pals long.
- Pyrin (Tech 29, 1300 sprint) holds the crown until Technology 61.
- Necromus 1900 sprint / 1300 run is the fastest; Hartalis matches it with 400 stamina and a 1500 jump.
- Ophydia looks strong at 1500 but carries only 100 stamina.
- Kingpaca jumps 1750 — the highest in the list, well past Necromus.
- In the Tech 29–61 plateau, buy stamina, not speed — Braloha 270, Xenogard 250.
- Dazemu's 0.85 gravity is the lowest on the ground list.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Mounts are how a group covers ground together, and that only works when everyone is in the same world at the same time rather than taking turns hosting. A gamever Palworld server keeps one shared map live with full crossplay, automatic updates and one-click backups, so a route somebody scouted is a route everybody can ride.
Conclusion
Palworld's seventy-five ground mounts compress into an upgrade path of just eight: Rushoar (Tech 6), Melpaca (7), Direhowl (9), Univolt (14), Dazemu (28), Pyrin (29), then a thirty-two-level gap before Paladius and Necromus at Tech 61. Necromus tops the list at 1,900 sprint and 1,300 run, though Hartalis matches its sprint with 400 stamina and a 1,500 jump, making it the better long-distance mount. Sprint speed alone is misleading — Pyrin's 1,300 on 100 stamina is a burst, while Braloha's 270 stamina at a lower speed crosses regions — and jump height belongs to Kingpaca at 1,750, not to anything at the top of the speed table. If the mid-game feels like it stops improving, that is the ladder, not you: between Technology 29 and 61 the upgrades are stamina and utility, never speed.
