Every Herb in Dragonwilds: Where They Grow, Which Plot They Want, and What Domri Charges

Herbs growing in a farming plot in Ashenfall.

Dragonwilds has seven potion herbs, and they divide into two groups that need completely different plans. Five grow somewhere in Ashenfall and can be picked or bought. Two — Kwuarm and Avantoe — have no wild location at all, and exist only if somebody farms them.

Each herb also has a best plot type, and getting that wrong is the quietest way to waste a farming cycle.

The Full Herb Table

KwuarmNone — farmed onlyOak plot
SnapdragonBloodblight SwampOak plot
ToadflaxBloodblight SwampOak plot
IritMost of Fellhollow and Dowdun ReachWillow plot
AvantoeNone — farmed onlyWillow plot

The plot pattern is neat and worth memorising: the two Whispering Swamp herbs want an ash plot, the three mid-tier herbs want an oak plot, and the two late herbs want a willow plot.

Two herbs have no wild source. Kwuarm must be farmed from kwuarm seeds found in Goblin, Garou or skeleton packs; Avantoe must be farmed from avantoe seeds in a willow plot. Neither has an area listed because neither has one.

Kwuarm used to drop as a herb and no longer does. The 0.10 update replaced Kwuarm with Kwuarm Seeds in drop tables — a deliberate move from gathering to farming, and the reason older guides send you looking for a plant that is not there.

Irit is the only herb harvested by destroying something rather than picking it: it comes from thorny irit roots.

Buying Them From Domri

Card listing Domri the Merchant's herb prices in garou chits.

Domri — The Merchant sells five of the seven for garou chits:

HerbPrice
Marrentil6 chits
Harralander6 chits
Snapdragon12 chits
Toadflax12 chits
Irit18 chits

The price ladder tracks the region. The two Whispering Swamp herbs cost 6, the two Bloodblight Swamp herbs cost 12, and Irit — the Fellhollow and Dowdun Reach herb — costs 18, three times the entry price.

He does not stock Kwuarm or Avantoe. The two farm-only herbs are farm-only in the shop as well, so no amount of chits substitutes for a planted plot.

Irit is also the herb the super compost bin accepts, which makes it the only entry on this list that is worth buying for something other than brewing.

Growing the Two You Cannot Find

Kwuarm and Avantoe force a farming setup, and each has its own quirk:

  • Kwuarm seeds come from enemy packsGoblin, Garou or skeleton packs — so the supply is a combat activity, not a gathering one.
  • Kwuarm's brewing unlocks through the Ranged skill tree. The recipe that uses it — Weapon Poison, brewed from Kwuarm and a Poison Ichor — is a Ranged unlock, so your archer and your brewer need to coordinate or be the same person.
  • Avantoe is grown in a willow plot from avantoe seeds, and the herb page notes that iron secateurs give an increased yield when harvesting it.

That secateurs note applies to every herb, not just Avantoe. The +25% hand-harvest bonus works on fully grown plants — but not when you use the Uproot spell, which is exactly the shortcut a farmer with the Magic tree open reaches for.

Herb plants respawn in 2 in-game days in the wild, which is faster than trees at three but slower than berry bushes at twelve hours.

Planning a Herb Supply

Card advising how to set up a Dragonwilds herb supply.

  • Build one plot of each type. Ash for Marrentil and Harralander, oak for Kwuarm, Snapdragon and Toadflax, willow for Irit and Avantoe.
  • Treat Kwuarm and Avantoe as projects, not purchases. No wild source, and Domri does not stock them.
  • Kill goblin, garou and skeleton packs for Kwuarm seeds — the supply is combat, not gathering.
  • Buy the cheap swamp herbs if you are chit-rich. At 6 chits each, Marrentil and Harralander are barely worth the walk to the Whispering Swamp.
  • Harvest with secateurs, not Uproot. The 25% applies only to hand-harvesting.
  • Remember herbs are the potion bottleneck. Since the rework moved supply from drop tables to seeds, potions depend on somebody farming — on a shared world, that should be a named job.

Running your own Dragonwilds server

Herbs grow on the world clock, which means a herb supply only accumulates on a server that keeps running while your group is offline. A gamever Dragonwilds server keeps Ashenfall persistent with automatic updates and one-click backups.

Conclusion

Dragonwilds has seven potion herbs on a tidy plot pattern: Marrentil and Harralander grow in the Whispering Swamp and want an ash plot; Kwuarm, Snapdragon and Toadflax want an oak plot, with Snapdragon and Toadflax found in the Bloodblight Swamp; Irit and Avantoe want a willow plot, with Irit harvested from thorny irit roots across Fellhollow and Dowdun Reach. Kwuarm and Avantoe have no wild location at all — Kwuarm comes from seeds dropped by Goblin, Garou and skeleton packs since the 0.10 update replaced the herb with seeds in drop tables, and Avantoe is grown from seeds in a willow plot. Domri — The Merchant sells five of them for garou chits on a regional ladder: 6 for Marrentil and Harralander, 12 for Snapdragon and Toadflax, 18 for Irit — and stocks neither farm-only herb. Harvest with iron secateurs for +25%, never with Uproot, which cancels the bonus entirely.
