Every Crafting & Processing Station in Dragonwilds (and What It's For)

Card grouping Dragonwilds' stations into crafting, processing, refining and farming.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds has accumulated a lot of stations, and they arrived across so many updates that most bases end up with the obvious ones and none of the rest. There are four groups — gear crafting, food processing, material refining and farming infrastructure — and the ones people skip are almost always the upgrade stations, which is where the actual quality difference comes from. Here is the full set.

Gear Crafting: Four Benches

BenchMakes
Blacksmith BenchTools, 1H and 2H weapons, shields, crossbow limbs, quest items
Fletching BenchShortbows, longbows, crossbows, arrows, bolts
Mystic ForgeStaves, powerful capes, Ascension Cores
Armour BenchHead, body and leg armour — all three combat styles — plus cape-slot gear

These four replaced a single overloaded Smithing Anvil, and if your base predates that change, your old Fletching Bench and Smithing Anvil were destroyed on login when Umbral Sands released, with the materials dropped where they stood.

Build them close together. The crossbow chain crosses benches — limbs at the Blacksmith Bench, the weapon at the Fletching Bench — so distance between them costs real time.

The Mystic Forge is also an upgrade station, not just a crafting one: Ascension Cores "upgrade Masterwork and Vestige weapons to higher tiers."

Food: Two Processing, Two Crafting

StationStageNotes
CampfireProcessingCosts fuel
GrillProcessing"A nicer campfire that can be built in your home and doesn't have a fuel cost"
RangeCraftingMeals and beverages
Stone RangeCraftingCombines cooked components into "space-efficient, highly satiating meals in a covered space"

Build the Grill and stop using campfires. Identical processing job, no fuel cost, and it goes indoors. On a base that runs continuously the saving compounds.

The two-stage split is deliberate. You process ingredients, then craft meals from them — which is why guesswork is gone: "There's no more throwing random ingredients into a pot and trial and erroring your way into the meal you wanted."

This matters more than it used to. The health rework removed healing potions, so food is your healing, with fish best in class. A base without a working kitchen is a base without a healing supply.

Refining and Upgrading

StationPurpose
TanneryLeather processing
Advanced Tannery"For making better leathers"
LoomTextile processing
Fermentation Barrel"Allows you to upgrade Tier 3 Potions into more powerful Tier 4 potions"
Rune AltarRunecrafting — Attune or Autocraft
Mystic ForgeWeapon upgrades via Ascension Cores

The Fermentation Barrel is the clearest example of a skipped station. It does not make anything new — it upgrades potions you already have a tier. If your group is still drinking Tier 3 potions into late content, this is why.

The Advanced Tannery is the same idea for leather, and leather feeds armour at every tier.

One known issue on both the Tannery and Loom: "Upgrading a Tannery or Loom while a valid input is present will cause the content to not be selectable." Empty them before you upgrade and you avoid it entirely.

The Rune Altar is a choice, not a machine. Attune is the active minigame granting 33 / 66 / 100% bonus runes depending on difficulty; Autocraft is passive at 5:1 and 25% of base XP, rising to 10:1 with the relevant skill perk.

Farming and Water Infrastructure

Card listing Dragonwilds' farming planters and water storage buildings.

StructurePurpose
Ash planterBest for seeds from Brynmoor
Willow planterBest for seeds from Fellhollow
Oak planterRegion not publicly stated — check in game
WellClean water
Raincatcher BarrelClean water, collected passively from rain
Water BarrelStorage — clean or dirty, fixed by the first fill

Matching the planter to the seed's region raises the crop's resistance to disease — it is a prevention decision, distinct from watering (which reduces disease) and composting (which raises yield).

The Water Barrel rule is permanent and worth stating to your whole group: whatever goes in first defines it as clean or dirty, and you cannot mix. One person topping up a clean barrel from a river-filled watering can changes what that barrel is forever. Keep two, clearly placed.

Build a Raincatcher Barrel early. It is the only passive clean-water source.

Two more base structures worth knowing:

  • Traders now exist "across ALL of Ashenfall" — they "accept some of your materials and spare loot in exchange for stuff in their shops", which gives spare loot a use.
  • The Pylon, from The Great Body Robbery, intercepts lightning strikes in a radius — it makes storm-prone building sites viable.

And do not forget the furniture that is not decoration. Chairs reduce hunger, thirst and fatigue when you sit in them, and proximity to a bed reduces all three drain rates — so beds belong where people work, not in one bedroom.

Practical tips

  • Build the Grill — same processing as a campfire, no fuel cost, indoors.
  • Group the four gear benches. The crossbow chain crosses two of them.
  • The Fermentation Barrel upgrades Tier 3 potions to Tier 4 — the most-skipped station in the game.
  • Empty a Tannery or Loom before upgrading it, or the contents become unselectable.
  • Match planters to the seed's region for disease resistance.
  • A Water Barrel is clean or dirty by its first fill, permanently. Keep two.
  • Chairs and beds are mechanical, not decorative — they slow all three survival meters.

Running your own RuneScape: Dragonwilds server

Stations only earn their build cost when they are used, and on a shared world that means a base where six people can work at once without queueing — which is exactly why Jagex split the crafting benches in the first place. A gamever Dragonwilds server keeps that base available around the clock, updates itself so client and server versions never drift apart, and takes one-click backups before disruptive changes.

Conclusion

Dragonwilds' stations fall into four groups. Gear crafting runs across the Blacksmith Bench, Fletching Bench, Mystic Forge and Armour Bench — four stations that replaced one anvil, with chains that cross between them. Food splits into processing (Campfire, and the fuel-free Grill you should build instead) and cooking (Range, Stone Range). Refining and upgrading is where most bases are incomplete: the Advanced Tannery for better leathers, the Fermentation Barrel that upgrades Tier 3 potions to Tier 4, and the Mystic Forge's Ascension Cores for weapons. And farming infrastructure — planters matched to their seed's region, a Raincatcher Barrel for passive clean water, and Water Barrels whose clean-or-dirty state is fixed permanently by the first fill.
