Cooking in Dragonwilds: Every Station and How Ingredients Combine

The four Dragonwilds cooking stations, split into a processing pair and a crafting pair.

Cooking in RuneScape: Dragonwilds runs through four dedicated stations, and the wiki is explicit that the skill "allows players to prepare food and drinks" while "higher levels decrease the chances of burning higher-level ingredients." This is the stations-and-process article — station roles, fuel, the Power Level gate on ingredients, and which stations/recipes you unlock by leveling. It does not cover sustenance, hunger, or food perks; that's a separate system.

The Four Cooking Stations

The wiki's station list names exactly four: Campfire (flagged as "requires a fuel source"), Grill, Stone Range, and Cooking Range. That's the full roster this source documents — no fifth station appears anywhere on the page.

Campfire and Grill process raw ingredients into cooked form — the one-to-one conversions covered below. Stone Range and Cooking Range handle more involved meals, but that part of the source only links to a facility-recipe template rather than an extractable list, so the exact multi-ingredient recipes craftable there are undocumented here — an absence in the source, not proof no recipes exist.

Two things about tiering are documented, though. The update history records that the Cooking Pot was replaced with the Stone Range in the "Eye on Ashenfall - 0.9.1" update (29 September 2025) — Stone Range is a successor station. And the Grill isn't available from the start: the level-up table gates it behind Cooking level 26, via the "Grill Master" unlock. Build costs for any of the four stations aren't given in this source and are left undocumented rather than guessed.

Fueling a Campfire

A table of campfire fuel sources ranked by burn duration, from Ash Logs to Fuel Pellet.

Only the Campfire needs fuel, and the wiki gives an exact duration per type:

FuelBurn duration
Ash Logs / Ash Plank / Yew Plank1 minute
Oak Logs / Oak Plank1 minute 30 seconds
Charcoal / Blightwood2 minutes
Willow Logs2 minutes 30 seconds
Maple Logs3 minutes
Yew Logs3 minutes 30 seconds
Fuel Pellet6 minutes

The spread is real: a Fuel Pellet's 6 minutes is 6x an Ash Log's 1 minute (6 ÷ 1 = 6), and Yew Logs at 3.5 minutes is 3.5x an Ash Log (3.5 ÷ 1 = 3.5). Stockpiling Fuel Pellets or Yew Logs for a long cooking session means far fewer refuel trips than running the Campfire on Ash Logs. The Grill carries no listed fuel-duration row at all — the source doesn't explain the mechanism, only the absence of a cost where the Campfire has one.

Power Levels: How Raw Ingredients Become Meals

A sample of the ingredient-to-Power-Level table, showing raw items and the cooked product each becomes.

Every ingredient in the source table carries a Power Level, which the wiki says determines "what level of Cooking is required to cook them on a campfire or grill, and then what level is required to not burn them on the same." Higher Power Level means a higher Cooking level to process it at all, and higher again before you stop burning it.

The documented table is a one-ingredient-to-one-product conversion — the only level of "combining" this source confirms:

Power LevelExample raw ingredientCooked product
(unlisted)Dirty WaterClean Water
1RedberriesDried Redberries
2PotatoBaked Potato
3OnionFried Onions
4PumpkinRoast Pumpkin
5Cactus SteakSeared Cactus Steak

Dirty Water carries no Power Level in the source table at all — undocumented, not zero. Dozens more fish, meats, and produce fill out Power Levels 1–5, but no entry currently listed goes above 5.

One wrinkle: the update history notes Umbral Sands fish "are listed as Power Level 7 ingredients" raw, but "when cooked, they end up as Power Level 4," and Fellhollow/Dowdun Reach fish were originally Power Level 5–6 before hotfixes lowered them to 4. Raw and cooked Power Level don't always match, and the numbers move between patches.

Leveling Cooking Unlocks More Stations and Recipes

The Cooking level-up table entries that gate station access and recipe collections.

The level-up table ties several station and recipe milestones to specific Cooking levels:

LevelUnlockEffect
11Fancy CookwareUnlocks the pan rack furniture piece
14TeamongerUnlocks a recipe collection at the Stone Range and Range
16Amateur CulinaromancerUnlocks a recipe collection at the Stone Range and Range
26Grill MasterUnlocks the Grill itself
36Adept CulinaromancerUnlocks a recipe collection at the Stone Range and Range
40Yes, Chef!Unlocks the chef's hat recipe (crafted at the Crafting Table, not a cooking station)
99Cooking CapeUnlocks the skillcape; stops any Power Level ingredient from burning

Burn-chance reduction runs separately at levels 1, 12, 27, 41, 50, and 75 — each cuts burn chance for one Power Level bracket "by -50%," not stacked into one formula. The only listed way to stop burning entirely, at every Power Level, is the level-99 Cooking Cape.

Cooking tips: Build toward the Grill once you hit level 26 — the source lists no fuel cost for it at all, an absence in the data rather than a documented no-fuel mechanic. For the Campfire, stockpile Fuel Pellets (6x an Ash Log's 1-minute burn, so roughly 1/6 the refuel trips: 1 ÷ 6 ≈ 0.17) or Yew Logs (3.5x, roughly 1/3.5 the refuel trips: 1 ÷ 3.5 ≈ 0.29) if processing in bulk. Don't discard low-Power-Level ingredients once you outlevel them; the source doesn't document a downside to cooking them at a high Cooking level.

Running your own Dragonwilds server

Cooking only pays off if the stove is still standing when you get back — fuel stockpiles, a built Grill, and unlocked Stone Range recipes are all base investments. A gamever Dragonwilds server keeps that base persistent between sessions, with automatic updates and one-click backups so a kitchen you've spent levels unlocking doesn't reset.

Conclusion

Dragonwilds cooking runs on four stations — Campfire (fuel-fed), Grill (no fuel cost, but locked until level 26 via "Grill Master"), Stone Range (successor to the old Cooking Pot as of update 0.9.1), and Cooking Range. Campfire fuel spans Ash Logs at 1 minute to Fuel Pellets at 6 minutes — a 6x difference. Every ingredient carries a documented Power Level gating both whether you can cook it and whether you'll burn it, though the source itself warns those numbers shift between patches (Umbral Sands fish drop from Power Level 7 raw to 4 cooked). Recipe-collection unlocks land at levels 14, 16, and 36 for the Stone Range and Range, and total burn-immunity only arrives at level 99 with the Cooking Cape. What isn't documented — station build costs, and the exact multi-ingredient recipe lists at the Stone Range and Cooking Range — is left that way rather than guessed.
