Best Weapons in Palworld 1.0: Tier List & Unlock Order
Palworld 1.0 added thirteen weapons, most of them locked behind the deep end of the Technology tree. This guide ranks them by what they are actually good at, shows the exact Technology Level each one costs, and tells you which to build first when your points are limited.
Read this before comparing numbers: the listed Attack value is not comparable across weapon classes. A bow's single-shot figure, a launcher's blast figure and an assault rifle's per-bullet figure are measured on different scales, so the Mechanical Bow's 20,000 does not mean it out-damages the Plasma Rifle by ten times. Compare within a class, and use the situational picks below for cross-class decisions.

S-Tier: The Weapons Worth the Grind
Beam Launcher — Technology Level 80. The last weapon in the tree and the biggest single hit in the game: 14,000 Attack at Common, 16,800 at Legendary. It costs Paloxite Ingot x100, Bio Battery x50, AI Core x10 and Ancient Civilization Core x10, which means you are not building it until you have a full ancient-material production chain running. It is the endgame boss-deleter.
Plasma Rifle — Technology Level 78. The best sustained-damage weapon in 1.0. Rather than dumping everything into one target, it releases an electrical discharge from the point of impact that chains to multiple enemies, which makes it the answer to raid waves and Pal packs. At 1,860 – 2,232 Attack on standard Assault Rifle Ammo, it is also the most practical top-tier gun to keep fed.
Mechanical Bow — Technology Level 67. A single-shot, magazine-size-1 bow with an enormous listed Attack of 20,000. It unlocks surprisingly early for its power — Tech 67, built at the Ancient Workbench rather than a standard weapon bench — and it runs on cheap Arrows instead of manufactured ammunition. If you want one high-tier weapon as soon as the ancient tier opens, this is it.
Laser Sword — Technology Level 73. 2,000 Attack, no ammunition at all. For anyone who prefers melee, an energy blade that never runs dry removes the single biggest constraint on late-game melee play.
A-Tier: Excellent, Cheaper, Earlier

- Tactical Grenade Launcher (Tech 72) — 6,722 Attack at Common Rank 10. Area damage that clears grouped enemies far faster than any rifle, at the cost of a slower rhythm and awkward close-range use.
- Heavy Assault Rifle (Tech 70) — 1,615 Attack. The best conventional rifle before the Plasma Rifle, and considerably cheaper: Soralite Ingot x100, Carbon Fiber x50, Bio Battery x30, AI Core x5.
- Prototype Shotgun (Tech 69) — 1,167 – 1,400 Attack across a 12–20 round magazine. Close-quarters king, and the practical answer when something large closes the distance on you.
- Enhanced Lily's Spear (Tech 68) — 1,200 Attack on a melee spear that costs no ancient cores at all: Paldium Fragment x20, Soralite Ingot x30, High Quality Cloth x20 and High Quality Wooden Board x20. Comfortably the best value melee weapon in the update.
- Combat SMG (Tech 68) — 907 at Common, scaling to roughly 1,587 at higher rarities. High rate of fire for players who prefer volume over per-shot damage.
B-Tier and Situational
- Beam Scatter (Tech 75) — an energy shotgun with a 30-round magazine but a modest 508 listed Attack. The magazine size is the selling point; the raw numbers are not.
- Drone Launcher (Tech 77) — filed internally as a melee-class weapon with 200 – 240 Attack. It is a gimmick pick rather than a damage upgrade, and it costs Paloxite Ingot x70, World Tree Holy Water x40, AI Core x8 and Ancient Civilization Core x5 to build.
- Metal Bat (Tech 40) — 500 Attack from Hardwood x30 and Refined Ingot x20. A genuinely good mid-game bridge weapon that costs almost nothing.
- Primitive Sword (Tech 17) — 180 Attack from Wooden Board x2, Stone x15 and Ingot x15. Your first real weapon, and fine until the Metal Bat.
Best Weapon for Each Situation

- Boss burst damage: Beam Launcher, or the Mechanical Bow if you are not at Tech 80 yet.
- Raids and grouped enemies: Plasma Rifle for the chain discharge, Tactical Grenade Launcher for raw area damage.
- Close range: Prototype Shotgun.
- Melee, no ammo logistics: Laser Sword; Enhanced Lily's Spear if you want the same idea for a fraction of the cost.
- Sustained general use: Heavy Assault Rifle — cheap enough to actually keep loaded.
- Early and mid game: Primitive Sword, then Metal Bat at Tech 40.
Build Order If Your Points Are Limited
Technology points are the real bottleneck, not materials. A sensible path:
- Primitive Sword (17) then Metal Bat (40) to get through the early game.
- Ancient Workbench (Tech 67) first among the ancient unlocks — most of what follows is built there.
- Mechanical Bow (67) as your first ancient-tier weapon, since it runs on cheap Arrows.
- Heavy Assault Rifle (70) for an affordable, reliable gun.
- Laser Sword (73) or Enhanced Lily's Spear (68) depending on whether you want the ammo-free premium option or the budget one.
- Plasma Rifle (78), then Beam Launcher (80) once your ancient material chain is producing.
Practical tips
- Rarity matters as much as the weapon. A Legendary Plasma Rifle at 2,232 beats a Common one at 1,860 by 20%, so hunt schematics before you unlock the next tier up.
- Several top-tier weapons need AI Core and Ancient Civilization Core, which come from ancient content rather than ordinary mining. Get that supply running before you spend points on Tech 78+.
- The Mechanical Bow's magazine size is 1. It hits enormously hard but punishes missed shots — practise on Alphas before taking it to a tower boss.
- Type advantage still applies through your Pals, not your gun. Pair a mount that converts your attack element (Univolt Cryst, Prixter Lux) with any of these weapons for a free super-effective multiplier.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Climbing to Technology Level 80 and stocking the ancient materials for a Beam Launcher is a long project, and it goes much faster when your base keeps refining while you are offline. A dedicated Palworld 1.0 server keeps production running 24/7, lets your group split the grind across platforms with full crossplay, and protects the result with one-click backups and automatic updates — so a patch day never costs you a hundred Paloxite Ingots.
Conclusion
The Beam Launcher is the strongest weapon in Palworld 1.0 and the Plasma Rifle is the most practical top-tier pick thanks to its chaining discharge and standard ammo. But the smartest early investment is the Mechanical Bow at Technology Level 67 — enormous damage, cheap Arrow ammunition, and available the moment the Ancient Workbench opens. Fill the gaps with the Heavy Assault Rifle for everyday use and the Enhanced Lily's Spear if you want melee without the ancient-core price tag.
