A Room With A Garou is Dragonwilds' one construction quest. An elder garou named Caratacus, blind and grieving, asks you to build the home his late wife wanted — and the game does not check your architecture. Four walls and a roof, twenty ash logs, done. No prerequisite, no enemies, no combat. Along with Letters for the Dead, this is one of only two Dragonwilds quests you can complete without fighting anything — and unlike that one, it is in the starting-adjacent Fractured Plains rather than deep in Fellhollow.
The Minimum Build
Caratacus laments his late wife Cliodhina, who wanted to live in the area, and asks for help building a home — he cannot do it himself because he is blind.
The walkthrough is refreshingly direct about what actually satisfies the quest:
You can build the house however you like, but to finish the quest quickly, building 4 walls and a roof within the floor space is recommended. This requires a minimum of 20 ash logs, where players can create:

Five pieces. Twenty logs. That is the whole build.
"However you like" is the important half. The quest checks that a structure exists around Caratacus, not that it is good. If you want to build something elaborate you can; if you want to be finished in three minutes, four walls and a 45° roof do it.
Build around him, not near him. The item requirement says "to create a house around Caratacus" — he is the anchor point, and he does not move.
The Style Question
Dragonwilds ships four complete building styles — Cabin, Cottage, Castle and Kharidian — each a separate set of build entries covering flooring, walls, roofing, and beams and pillars.
Ash logs point you at the wood styles, which is where the 20-log figure comes from. Cabin is the simplest, with 30° and 45° roof support walls; Cottage adds thatched roofing and reaches 60° supports for a steeper pitch.
The 45° roof named in the walkthrough exists in both. Since the quest does not care which you use, build in whichever style you were going to use for your own base — you will learn the piece set at the same time as finishing a quest.
Do not mix styles inside the walls. Because each style is a separate set of entries rather than a material swap, a Cottage wall against a Cabin wall does not align — which matters more for a four-wall box than for a large build.
