V Rising Server: Mods Installation Guide

V Rising Server: Mods Installation Guide

This guide will help you install mods on your V Rising server to enhance your gameplay experience. Follow the steps for mod installation.

Step 1: Install a Mod Loader (BepInEx)

Most mods for V Rising require a mod loader. One of the most popular loaders is BepInEx. Before installing any mods, you'll need to install this loader on your server.

Download BepInEx:

Go to the BepInEx GitHub and download the latest version for Unity games.

Make sure you select the appropriate version that matches your server environment (Windows/Linux).

Upload to Your Server:

Navigate to your server control panel or use an FTP client (like FileZilla) to access your server files.

Go to the directory: /VRisingServer_Data/Managed/

Upload all BepInEx files into the root directory of your V Rising server.

Start the Server:

Start your server. If BepInEx has been installed correctly, a folder named BepInEx should automatically appear in your server's root directory.

Step 2: Find and Download Mods

Locate Mods:

Browse modding platforms like Thunderstore or Nexus Mods to find mods you want to install.

Download Mods:

Download the mod files you are interested in. Mods typically come in .dll or .zip formats.

Step 3: Install Mods

Upload the Mod Files:

After downloading the mod files, upload them to your server using your FTP client.

Place the mod files into the /BepInEx/plugins/ directory on your server. If the folder doesn't exist, you may need to create it manually.

Check for Dependencies:

Some mods require other mods to function (dependencies). Make sure to read the mod’s description and download any required dependencies. Install these the same way by uploading them to the BepInEx/plugins/ folder.

Step 4: Start the Server with Mods

Restart the Server:

After uploading the mods, restart your V Rising server through the control panel.

Verify Mods:

Once the server is online, join the game and verify that the mods are working. Depending on the mod, you may need to check settings or look for specific changes in gameplay.

Step 5: Keeping Mods Updated

Mods frequently receive updates to fix bugs, improve performance, or add new features. It’s important to keep your mods up to date:

Check for Updates:

Regularly visit the modding platform where you downloaded the mod to see if any updates are available.

Replace Outdated Mods:

If an update is available, download the latest version and replace the old mod file in the /BepInEx/plugins/ directory.

Restart Your Server:

After updating any mods, restart the server to ensure the updates take effect.

Step 6: Troubleshooting

If you experience issues after installing mods, follow these steps:

Check for Compatibility:

Make sure the mods you installed are compatible with the version of V Rising that your server is running. Some mods may not work with newer or older game versions.

Error Logs:

BepInEx generates error logs in the BepInEx/logs folder. Check these logs to identify any potential mod conflicts or errors.

Mod Removal:

If a mod is causing problems, try removing it by deleting the mod’s .dll file from the /BepInEx/plugins/ folder and restarting the server.
